AOCN’s FOD Campaign at Tribhuvan International Airport

The Airline Operators Committee Nepal (AOCN) plays a crucial role in addressing common concerns faced by operating carriers and stakeholders in Nepal. One such concern is Foreign Object Debris (FOD) on the airside, which poses risks to flight operations and safety. The FOD Campaign 2023 In association with Tribhuvan International Airport Operator (TIACAO), Community of domestic airlines operators - Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) and major ground handling agents, Nepal Airlines Corporation, AOCN organized a comprehensive FOD campaign on 30 November 2023. The campaign’s central theme was to create awareness about the risks associated with FOD and engage everyone connected to flight operations.

Key Objectives

  • Risk Awareness: The campaign aimed to educate airport staff, ground crews, and airline personnel about the dangers of FOD. Participants learned how even small debris—such as loose bolts, tools, or foreign objects—can cause significant damage to aircraft engines, tires, and other critical components.
  • Vigilance and Responsibility: By emphasizing the importance of vigilance, the campaign encouraged everyone associated with flight operations to actively prevent FOD incidents. Ground personnel, maintenance crews, and other stakeholders at the airport operations were reminded of their shared responsibility in maintaining a safe airside environment.
  • Collaboration and Commitment: AOCN, TIACAO, AOAN and Nepal Airlines Corporation collaborated closely to ensure the success of the campaign. The commitment to FOD prevention extended beyond the campaign, fostering a culture of safety and accountability.

The FOD campaign organized by AOCN serves as a powerful reminder that safety begins with each individual’s actions. By raising awareness, promoting vigilance, and fostering collaboration, we can collectively reduce FOD risks and enhance the safety of our skies.

Remember! Every small effort counts in keeping our airside clean and safe for all flights!
