Removal of Threshold Reduction for Parallel Taxiway Construction at TIA (VNKT)

The construction of a parallel taxiway at TIA that necessitated a reduction of 236 meters from the existing runway length has been completed before deadline of 31 Jul 2024. The project initially scheduled from 01 Apr to 31 Jul 2024. The AIP supplement 9/24 declared the completion of project and removal of threshold reduction effective 19 Jun 2024.

Resumption of Tourist Visa into Nepal

With pre-condition, the tourist and visa on arrival service for Nepal has been resmed as per the notice circulated by Department of Immigration dated 11 December 2020.

New AOCN Committee Formation

The new AOCN Committee has been finalized to take the AOCN activities ahead. With the new term, Mr. Santanu Sen Sharma, Airport Manager, flydubai has been unanimously declared the new chairman of the AOCN. Under his chairperson, the new executive committee has been formed that will come in effect from 01 December 2020.

Ground handling agents, Fuel supplier, Airport Authroity, Civil Aviation authority and different agencies associated with the service provision are being requested for the consideration on the financial aspect in the airlines operation into Nepal. AOCN has been raising this agenda to keep the Nepal market as lucrative for the operating carriers to operate in this dire stage of aviation.

AOCN members' Conference Call

To discuss on the challenges and preparedness for the recovery of the services once the situation gets back to operation in Nepal, AOCN members had a conference call on 05 Mar 2020. Since, Nepal is in complete lockdown and government has advised for social distancing, the members participated in the meeting through web. The con call was participated from the airport representatives for different carriers from their Work From Home (WFH) set up.

Airlines Operator’s Committee Nepal (AOCN) felicitated the GM, TIA Mr. Debendra K.C. on 14 Feb 2020 at the Airport Restaurant, TIA for bringing the TIA Airport back to normal operation from the disruptive fire incident on 10 Feb 2020. The AOCN chairman appreciated the leadership and alternatives in place to tackle this situation and the less affect to the operating airlines schedule which not only facilitate the customer to continue their planned journey but also saved airlines for additional costs which would incur in case of disruption. 
 
Blood Donation Program

As part of its annual calendar program, AOCN in association with Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal organized the Blood Donation Program on 29 December 2019. Different stakeholders from the airport fraternity - GHA, CAAN, Airlines, Cargo participated in this event. The event was conducted in the Union Building within the airport vicinity for the convenience of the donor.

Side A Check-in counters have successfully renovated into complete Baggage Handling System (BHS) with facility of secondary x-ray to improve the security screening of the checked-in baggage with additional mandatory security layer.
