Runway and Taxiway Rehabilitation of TIA

In its initial phase of Runway and taxiway rehabilitation, TIA authority is rehabilitating the runway.The TIA airport has single runway for operation and the authority is rehabilitating the runway in its first phase. NOTAM is issued for the airport closure/curfew from 2200 hrs NST to 0800 hrs NST for the work till the end of June 2019. The runway rehabilitation is expected to complete by this time and next phase will start for taxiway rehabilitation.

 

TIA is the only international airport in operation in Nepal that is the sole gateway for the interanational visitors to connect to Nepal currently.

Removal of Threshold Reduction for Parallel Taxiway Construction at TIA (VNKT)

The construction of a parallel taxiway at TIA that necessitated a reduction of 236 meters from the existing runway length has been completed before deadline of 31 Jul 2024. The project initially scheduled from 01 Apr to 31 Jul 2024. The AIP supplement 9/24 declared the completion of project and removal of threshold reduction effective 19 Jun 2024.
